Aging Well with Yoga Classes
Improve your strength, flexibility and balance in one of my popular Aging Well with Yoga classes. I currently teach two in-person classes at the Piedmont Community Hall in Piedmont and one online class on Zoom. The class is designed to benefit people with different age related chronic conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, balance problems, Parkinson's, etc. We use props and modification so that everyone can take advantage of the therapeutic benefits of yoga. We do asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing exercises) and basic mindfulness and meditation techniques, sometimes also mudras (hand gestures) and sounding.
I also like to incorporate a little bit of strength training with elastic bands and functional balance training. My students have noticed decrease in pain, better balance, more flexibility and strength, and better awareness of their body as a result of attending my class regularly.
