Aging Well with Yoga Classes
Improve your strength, flexibility and balance in one of my Aging Well with Yoga classes. I currently offer classes in Oakland and Piedmont. The class is designed to benefit people with different age related chronic conditions. We use props and modification so that everyone can take advantage of the therapeutic benefits of yoga. We do asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing exercises) and basic mindfulness and meditation techniques, sometimes also mudras (hand gestures) and sounding.
I also like to incorporate a little bit of strength training with elastic bands, massage with Yoga Tune-Up balls, and some Pilates inspired moves to provide a well rounded physical challenge. My students have noticed decrease in pain, better balance, more flexibility and strength, and better awareness of their body as a result of attending my class regularly. Plus it's a fun social opportunity! If you are like most of my students, you will find out that exercising regularly is so much easier with the support of a group.
